We like to invite You to participate in our Asian Extractor website, which we hope will develop into a thought leadership platform on accounting fraud in Asia with analyses and opinions from the students and expert guest speakers in the official Singapore Management University course ACCT004 Accounting Fraud in Asia, as well as from global experts. The intuition behind the naming of the website Asian Extractor and the Lotus motif is this:
“Asian insiders Extract and expropriate wealth in artful accounting tunneling methods as opposed to western-style accruals-based earnings management. We attempt to Extract them out in the Asian capital jungle. The Lotus extracts mud out of its hollow stem and the stem grows up with determination, enabling the Lotus flower to blossom above the muddy water, rising above the defilement and remaining unstained and pure.”
Just as a Lotus gro
ws forth from mud but is not sullied by the faults of mud, so wisdom is capable of putting you in a situation of non-contradiction whereas there would be contradiction if you did not have wisdom.
As we journey together at the Asian Extractor in search of the wide-moat Bamboo Innovators, we hope that the lovely blooms of the Lotus typify a chaste and noble heart – unstained, unsullied, untouched by the miasmic air of the Asian capital jungles – opening to the light of Truth and Knowledge.
